Have Your Say

This year our flu vaccination programme will operate very differently.

Our federation, ABC will be running the programme on behalf of our Primary Care Network, which is made up of Orchard, Park, Riverside and Holbrook surgeries.

ALL eligible patients will be contacted by text message or telephone regarding appointments in order of the priorities set by NHS England

All Clinics will all be held at Millennium Hall in Roffey

You will receive a text message asking you to contact the booking line on 119 so that you can book an appointment at a time that is convenient for you.

We would ask that you have your NHS number to hand – this can be found via the NHS App or on a repeat prescription form.

Temporary change to fit notes

For Statutory Sick Pay (SSP), where employees go off sick on or after 10 December 2021, employers can only ask employees for proof of sickness (such as a fit note) after 28 days of sickness (including non-working days). Proof of sickness cannot be requested earlier than 28 days.

Fit notes do not have to be provided for DWP benefit claims until 27 January. This will not affect claims to benefit.

These changes are to give GP’s more time to work on the Coronavirus (Covid-19) booster programme.

Message to our patients – update on the COVID-19 booster programme

Across Sussex, the NHS and its partners are working extremely hard to roll out the COVID-19 booster vaccination programme to our communities.

All adults are eligible from Monday 13 December, and you will be able to book via the National Booking System from Wednesday 15 December.

You can book your booster for 3 months from the date of second vaccine, and you can access the National Booking System to book the appointment from 2 months.

We are working at pace to increase the availability of appointments so that there are plenty of options for people on the National Booking System. Some local vaccination services will also contact patients directly.

New appointments are being added every day across our vaccination services. We have been offering more than 80,000 appointments a week and in the last two weeks, we have increased the number of available appointments by more than 10,000 a week. Further availability will come online from Wednesday 15 December.

We will be working with all of our sites to take further steps to increase what they can offer again, including opening later and on more days.

All of these appointments will be added to the National Booking System and so we encourage everyone who is aged 18 and over, is yet to have their booster and who is approaching 3 months from your second vaccine to use the National Booking System to arrange your appointment when you are able to do so.

In terms of any planned appointments with Orchard Surgery, there are no changes at the current time and everyone should attend your planned appointments as normal. If we need to make any changes, we will contact you directly.

Message to patients

We are doing our best under very difficult circumstances. Our doctors are working more than 12 hours a day and sometimes up to 14/15 hour days.

We will NOT tolerate the abuse that our staff are currently experiencing.

Patients will receive a warning letter in the first instance, and will be removed from our list if there is any recurrence of such behaviour.

Find a walk-in coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination site - NHS

If you live in England and are aged 16 or over, you can get a COVID-19 vaccine from a walk-in COVID-19 vaccination site without an appointment. You do not need to be registered with a GP or bring any ID. It might help to bring your NHS number, if you know it. If you've already had your 1st dose, you ...

Unfortunately, we have a full time GP partner absent from the surgery at short notice.

Please bear with us; we are trying to book locum cover to provide additional appointments.

Routine appointments may be rescheduled to allow the capacity to see those patients who clinically urgently need to be seen.

If you are advised to seek alternative healthcare services such as a minor injuries unit or A&E this is because this is the most appropriate and safest form of treatment for your condition.

Thank you for your support and cooperation.
